The play by Edmond Rostand owes its title to the main character, the extraordinary Cyrano de Bergerac, an unrivaled orator, a poet, a heroic soldier who fears no one with a sword in his hand. He has always been burning with love for his lovely cousin Roxane, but her monstrous nose forbids her to declare herself. When she falls desperately in love with Christian de Neuvillete, who is as beautiful as Cyrano is ugly but as little eloquent as Cyrano is brilliant, Cyrano lends his pen and genius to his rival who, thanks to him, will marry Roxane. After many dramas and adventures, Cyrano finally dared, in his last breath, to reveal to his cousin the passion he had devoted to her throughout her life.
