The setting of this story is a train. It describes the passengers of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. With extraordinary finesse the author describes the behavior of the people travelling in each of the classes, and confronts them with one important fact: The birth of a child in the 3rd class compartment. The behaviors of the passengers range from indifference (mostly the 1st class travelers, although with exceptions) to full solidarity (travelers from the 3rd class) through the not entirely indifferent attitude of the 2nd class. AS the journey takes place in the month of December, the book presents an interesting symbolism with the birth of baby Jesus. Paperback, 4-1/2" x 7-1/2", 64 pages, Level A2, 650 words.
